I support this. Toronto deserves to have an NHL team

Random NHL franchise relocation question

If the future of the Phoenix Coyotes is up in the air (and it is, including reports of them being purchased and moving to southern Ontario), would it not make sense for the NHL to, you know, offer the team back to a Winnipeg buyer, first?

As a former Winnipegger, I'd love to see the team that was once the Winnipeg Jets before relocating to Phoenix back in the NHL as the Winnipeg Jets once again.

Wait....Toronto has an NHL franchise?

Adding a second National Hockey League franchise in the Toronto area isn't on the league's radar, according to the NHL's front office.

Just saying ...

Montreal just fired their coach.

Montreal beat the Oilers tonight.

Montreal is 9th in the NHL with 79 points.

Oilers are 17th in the NHL with 71 points.

Montreal just fired their coach.

Two NHL teams in Toronto?

No, really, that's the rumour.

Why not? If any city deserved to have two terrible hockey teams that never win the Stanley Cup, it's Toronto.

NHL cracks down on ... stick waving?

I saw this today and laughed and laughed.

The NHL, however, was not laughing.

Monday, the League made sure it would not happen again as Senior Executive Vice President and Director of Hockey Operations Colin Campbell issued a statement about the League’s position.

It is considered an interpretation of Rule 75, concerning goaltender interference.

"An unsportsmanlike conduct minor penalty (Rule 75) will be interpreted and applied, effective immediately, to a situation when an offensive player positions himself facing the opposition goaltender and engages in actions such as waving his arms or stick in front of the goaltender's face, for the purpose of improperly interfering with and/or distracting the goaltender as opposed to positioning himself to try to make a play."
